Japanese sword, is one of the traditional bladed weapons (nihonto) of Japan. The katana is generally defined as the standard size moderately curved (as opposed to the older "tachi" style featuring more curvature) Japanese sword with a blade length greater than 60 cm (23.6 inches). Try comparing other katana available at these prices and you'll quickly notice the quality is far higher than those of other sellers.

Built to last, these pieces are sure to bring a measure of Asian Decor to your home. Some swords available in long, short, or double variations.

Some customization work may be done, with all alterations being completed by a local craftsman inside the famous 790 year old sword making town- SEKI. Hard alloy gutter filled blade. For those who are serious about Iai training, we recommend an authentic Iai sword. In modern times the most commonly known type of Japanese sword is the Shinogi-Zukuri katana, which is a single-edged and usually curved long sword traditionally worn by samurai from the 15th century onwards. Other types of Japanese swords include: tsurugi or ken, which is a double-edged sword; dachi, nodachi, tachi, which are older styles of a very long single-edged sword; wakizashi, a medium sized sword; and the tanto which is an even smaller knife sized sword.

Although they are pole-mounted weapons, the naginata and yari are considered part of the nihont family due to the methods by which they are forged. Modern, authentic nihont are made by a few hundred swordsmiths. Many examples can be seen at an annual competition hosted by the All Japan Swordsmith Association, under the auspices of the Nihont Bunka Shink Kykai (Society for the promotion of Japanese Sword Culture).
